Obsidian live preview is awesome

I’ve used Obsidian for about 6 months now for a few reasons:
– I can use my vim keybinding muscle memory to enter my note text into the app.
– I write my notes in markdown
– A free plugin allows me to sync my note data into a git repo
– There’s a mobile client that I can use to take notes on the go
– The ability to link notes together and navigate those links like a wiki is amazing for tracking ideas over time.

I’m sure there’s more, but that’s not the point of this quick post!

Today I found out that Obsidian pushed a new “live preview” mode feature in their current v0.13.14 release!

I’ll admit, I didn’t understand the appeal at first: If I want to type in preview mode, why would I not just use Google Docs? But then I realized the way that it’s implemented allows me to continue to use my preferred vim-keybindings and markdown syntax to capture my notes. It just live renders the line after I’m done editing it.

I really feel like this is going to be a game changer for my productivity and general daily flow.
